MGM Resorts International has generously donated funds to support the purchase of over 100 Pelican hard-sided cases for the DRI STEM Education Green Box Program. These cases will replace the hard-shell suitcases previously used to house these self-contained teaching kits. Green Boxes are offered free of charge to PreK-12 Nevada educators and provide three weeks’ worth of grade-specific lesson plans, along with all the supplies necessary to conduct each activity. In 2024, over 30,000 K-12 Nevada students engaged in hands-on STEM education via Green Boxes in their classrooms.

Because the Green Boxes are shipped to schools across Nevada several times a year, they experience significant wear and tear. The previously used suitcases frequently needed repair or replacement, pulling boxes out of circulation and resulting in increased expenses. The upgraded Pelican cases will be a significant benefit to the long-term sustainability of the program.
“The Green Box program provides high quality, hands-on educational resources to educators and students who might not otherwise have access. It’s about making sure there is never a barrier for students and educators to participate in a high-quality learning environment.” – Liz Guillen, DRI STEM Education Program
Each Green Box aligns with Nevada science standards, touching upon timely environmental topics like microplastics, wildfire prevention, energy conservation, and more.
Thank you to MGM Resorts for their generous support of the DRI STEM Education Green Box program and ensuring Nevada students and educators continue to have access to high-quality, hands-on STEM learning.
