In partnership with the Truckee Meadows Water Authority, the Desert Research Institute STEM Education Program has created two new middle school Green Boxes to help students learn about water in their community! This professional development will lead educators through hands-on activities that help students to learn about the Truckee River watershed, water sources, water quality testing, and water treatment. Educators will create a watershed model, explore interactive story maps, simulate runoff, learn to test water samples for common contaminants, and more. Although this training will cover middle school standards, all interested educators are welcome to attend!
Educators who attend the session will be eligible for up to 3 Continuing Education hours. Note that this training can be taken in conjunction with the 10/15 Truckee Watershed Virtual STEM Curriculum and 11/8 Solar Homes trainings to earn a full 0.5 credit (7.5 CE Hours). See the DRI Professional Development page for more information.
