Gamma Spectrometers

Our lab features high-performance gamma spectrometry equipment, including:

    • Mirion Broad Energy Ge (BEGe) Detector:
        • Energy range: 3 keV to 3 MeV
        • Carbonate composition window for improved efficiency at low energies
        • Comparable resolution to low-energy detectors (LEGe) and coaxial detectors (SEGe)
        • Typical relative efficiency ≥34%
    • Canberra InSpector 1000 NaI Portable Detector:
        • 3″ diameter Nal detector for field gamma dose rate measurements
        • Capable of spectrum acquisition, analysis, and nuclide identification in real-time

Alpha and Beta Counters

We also maintain a set of precision counters for alpha and beta radiation:

      • 6 Alpha Counters (2 from Littlemore, 4 from Daybreak) for dose rate determination
      • Risø Beta Counter for dose rate determination
